It is estimated that approximately 20% of Canadians will be affected by a mental health disorder in their lifetime. \u00a0 <\/span>Today, 15 % of us are living with a mental health problem.\u00a0 <\/span>Personality disorders are one of them, and cause a great deal of suffering. \u00a0 <\/span>They have a considerable impact on the sufferer and those around him or her. \u00a0 <\/span>Sufferers generally have enormous difficulty establishing and maintaining relationships with others.\u00a0 <\/span>This leads to distress and reduced self-esteem.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

These people often suffer from other chronic illnesses, multiple addictions and poly-drug use.\u00a0 <\/span>This makes it more difficult to express and understand many symptoms, such as pain. \u00a0 <\/span>Hence the need to apply intervention strategies to make it easier to welcome these people with respect.\u00a0 <\/span>These suffering people often challenge our values and skills, forcing us to redefine our traditional ways of acting.<\/p>\n

This training aimed at healthcare professionals meets several objectives of the MSSS Mental Health Action Plan 2022-2025. People with difficult personalities pose a challenge to front-line workers (nurses, social workers, doctors, etc.) who bear this enormous burden.
