Complex wounds represent a frequent clinical challenge in care settings, particularly with aging patients with multiple comorbidities. This training course is designed to reinforce nurses' clinical judgment in order to ensure rigorous assessment, effective prevention and appropriate treatment of wounds.
Participants will deepen their knowledge of the main types of wounds encountered in practice:
Pressure sores, moisture-induced skin damage
Lower limb ulcers (venous and arterial)
Skin tears
Diabetic foot ulcers
Based on real-life clinical situations, they will learn to recognize the characteristics of each type of wound, identify risk factors and delayed healing, and adjust their interventions in line with best practice.
A hands-on workshop on plasters will consolidate learning on the choice, indication and safe use of different products, based on clinical assessment and wound evolution.
Based on the latest evidence, this training program promotes a structured, safe and person-centred approach. It also highlights the importance of interdisciplinary work, recognized for reducing the occurrence of wounds, accelerating healing and limiting recurrence.
In accordance with the reserved activities, the nurse plays a central role in wound care. She is responsible for the initial assessment, the development of the treatment plan and its adjustment according to clinical evolution. Wound prevention, assessment and follow-up are therefore an integral part of her daily practice.
